Description
Teenagers face many decisions in high school: whether to go to college or to work; which college or career to choose; whether to get involved with drugs, drinking, or sex; what to wear to a party; whether to study or have fun. Some decisions are minor, others major; some easy, others hard. Despite these differences, all are decided using the same process. Many factors influence the final outcome (family, friends, society, media, and maturity) and all of these factors are filtered through the value system throughout life. Decisions, Decisions presents a thorough model to assist students in making responsible judgments. Identifying the problem and gathering all the data necessary to make a decision is the first step of the process. The second step is to examine the options and weigh the consequences of each. Next, make a decision and accept responsibility for the consequences of the choice. The final step-crucial but often ignored-is to evaluate the decision (should it be changed or not?) and to learn from it. Everyone makes mistakes, but many mistakes can be corrected. This straightforward video program emphasizes that having a clearly defined and understood set of values can make decisions easier.
