After performing atrocities throughout the city of Shadizar in their search, the ancient weapon was found and the specters made their intentions clear: to wield Conan's might in service to a malevolent being named Thulsa Doom. But Conan would be no pawn for their evil, and using his steel-sent Cimmerian soul, instead turned the blade on himself, intending to take his own life. Once the blade met his skin, Conan was struck by a bolt of mystical lightning and was not slain, but instead transported to somewhere else...
